Abstract
Background: Otomycosis is an inflammatory process in the ear canal caused by fungal infections. This otomycosis is a form of disease that is commonly found in all parts of the world. Frequency varies depending on differences in geographic es the predisposing factor most often one of them is the use of ear instruments such as hoods, earphones and helmets. because the use of earplug instruments used routinely can make perspiration increase, and absorption decreases. Making mold and germs will be more easy to grow because water can increase ear humidity.
Objective: To know the relationship between the use of ear instrument with the occurrence of otomycosis.
Method: This research was conducted at the Siloam Karawaci public hospital in December 2019 - February 2020. uses an unpaired comparative categorical analytic research method with a cross-sectional prospective observational study design. This research was conducted at the Siloam Karawaci public hospital in December 2019 - February 2020. The comparative analytical research method is unpaired with a cross-sectional prospective observational study design. Earmuffs used in this study were helmets, earphones and turban.
Result : There is no significant relationship between the use of earplugs and the occurrence of otomycosis in patients at Siloam Hospital Gedung B Lippo Village. There is a significant relationship between hearing loss and the occurrence of otomycosis, with a value of P = 0.027 (<0.05) OR 7.33
