Abstract

Kemampuan siswa dalam mengetahui dan memahami phoneme dan mengidentifikasi huruf dan kata adalah merupakan persyaratan bagi siswa untuk belajar membaca. Penelitian tindakan kelas dilakukan untuk menginvestigasi penggunaan Large Movable Alphabet dan Pink series Montessori dalam memfasilitasi kesadaran phonemic dan kesiapan membaca siswa. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui bagaimana Large Movable Alphabet dan Pink Series Montessori dapat digunakan untuk memfasilitasi dan meningkatkan kesadaran phonemic dan kesiapan membaca siswa. Sampel dalam penelitian ini terdiri dari 23 siswa TK satu, usia 4-5 tahun, di Sekolah Mentari yang menggunakan metode Montessori dalam proses pengajaran. Proses studi dilakukan kedalam empat tahap: observasi kemampuan siswa. Merencanakan rencana pembelajaran dan material, pelaksanaan penelitian dan refleksi. Selama proses, siswa diperkenalkan kepada material Large Movable Alphabet dan Pink Series. Siswa belajar mengidentifikasi bunyi dan segmen suku kata. Data dihasilkan melalui lembar observasi kesadaran phonemic dan interview guru. Hasil dari studi menunjukan bahwa Large Movable Alphabet dan Pink Series dan meningkatkan kesadaran phonemic dan memfasilitasi kesiapan membaca / The students‟ ability to know and understand phonemes and recognize letters and word well are prerequisites for students when learning how to read. An action research was conducted to investigate the use of Large Movable Alphabet and Pink Series of Montessori in facilitating student‟s phonemic awareness and reading readiness. The aim of this study was to find out how the Large Movable Alphabet and Pink Series of Montessori can be used to fasilitate and improve students‟ phonemic awareness and reading readiness. The sample for this study consisted of 23 kindergarten one students, aged four to five years old, in Sekolah Mentari, which occupies the Montessori method in the teaching process. The process of the research was organized into four steps: learners‟ skill observation, planning lesson plans and materials, conducting the research and reflection. During the process the students were introduced to Large Movable Alphabet and Pink Series materials. The students learned to identify sounds and segment the words into syllables. Data was collected by using phonemic awareness observation sheet and teachers‟ interviews. The result of the study showed that Large Movable Alphabet and Pink Series improved the students‟ phonemic awareness and facilitated the reading readiness
