Abstract

Analytical thinking, problem solving and creative thinking skills are very important to be introduced since early childhood education. Those three competencies have not developed well in Kindergarten Class Bunda Mulia School. The research is done to analyze the application of the Discovery Learning model in improving the students’ ability in their analytical thinking, problem solving and creative thinking skill. The method used in this research is class action research. The research was conducted in Bunda Mulia School with 9 students as subjects of study. Rubrics are used to measure the students’ progress in their analytical thinking skills, problem solving and creative thinking skills. The results show the significant increase of students’ grade from cycle one, two and three. The average score of analytical thinking skills in cycle one is 54.3, in cycle two 70.4 and in cycle three 80.4. The average score of problem solving ability in cycle one is 53.1, in cycle two 71.6 and in cycle three 87.7. The average score of creative thinking skills in cycle one is 56.8, in cycle two 69.1 and in cycle three 85.2. It can be concluded that the Discovery Learning learning model can improve analytical thinking, problem solving and creative thinking skills in thematic learning for Kindergarten students at Bunda Mulia School .
