Background: Obesity is excessive fat that can interfere with health and carry diseases such as asthma, type 2 diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cholesterol, heart failure, liver problems and bone and lower. Incidence of obesity in Indonesia in children is increasing every year, influenced by one of them by the knowledge. Purposes: to find out the relationship between parents' knowledge about the choice of food types in school-age children with obesity in Indonesia. Methods: This research uses quantitative research with cross sectional research design. The sample in this study are parents who have school-age children with a sample of 97 respondents. The sampling technique used was a non-probability sampling technique with a purposive category using an online questionnaire instrument. The data analysis technique used is univariate and bivariate analysis using the chi-square test. Result: Most parents had highest presentation in good knowledge category (95,9%) with 93 responden. Incidence of obesity in school-age children amounted to 26 respondents (26,6%) and the majority are not obese, 70 respondents (72.2%) The results of statistical analysis with the chi-square test showed p.value 0.086 > 0.05 indicating that family knowledge about choosing the type of food at the age of school children with the incidence of obesity did not have a significant relationship. Recommendation: Families are expected to be more involved in providing types of food to children to prevent obesity.
