Abstract

Background: According to World Health Organization (WHO) (2017), stroke is the number one cause of death in the world. Prevalence of stroke patients in one private hospital in western Indonesia, in 2019, are 604 patients. The prevalence of decubitus itself in Indonesia has a percentage of 33.3% while the indicator of hospital service quality standards by the WHO adopted by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Indonesia stipulates that the target of decubitus quality is 0% thus prevention is needed. One of the prevention of decubitus is by doing change of position. Aim: The aim of this study is to analyse some research articles from various sources about the effectiveness of change of position to prevent decubitus in stroke patient. Research Method: This literature study used simplified approach method. Data used in this study are collected from five databases: Google Scholar, PNRI, Science Direct, ClinicalKey and ProQuest using keyword “change of position” AND “prevention of decubitus” AND “Stroke”. There are 38.169 articles obtained from five databases, then they were analysed according to inclusion and exclusion criteria after that, articles were criticised using JBI Critical Appraisal Tools. Results: There are six articles that fit with criterias.Three articles stated that giving change of position was effective to reduce the incidence of decubitus, two articles stated that giving positioning in a left, supine and right sloping position was effective to reduce the incidence of decubitus and one articles stated that giving change of position is effective to decrease the degree of decubitus. Conclusion: Giving interventions by change of position in stroke patient routinely and gradually have effective impact to prevent decubitus, either avoiding the incidence of decubitus or decrease the degree of decubitus itself.
