Abstract

This research is motivated by the low level of curiosity, creative thinking and communicative skills in Bahasa Indonesia class that’s taught using conventional cognitive approach which decrease the motivation to learn. The purpose of this research was to analyse the application of Contextual Teaching and Learning to to improve students’ curiosity, creative thinking and communicative skills using classroom action research in three cycles. The subjects of this study were 14 grade 9 Bahasa Indonesia Language B students. The instrument used was an assessment rubric to measure the students’ curiosity, creative thinking and communicate skills. The result showed that there was an increase in the average value of from 67 in cycle one to 78 in cycle two and finally 86 in cycle three. The average value of creative thinking skills increased from 69 in cycle one to 75 in cycle two and finally 81 in cycle three. The average value of communicative skills increased from 57 in cycle one to 70 in cycle two and finally 79 in cycle three. It is concluded that CTL can improve curiosity, creative thinking and communicative skills in grade 9 Bahasa Indonesia Language B students at XYZ school./ Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya sikap rasa ingin tahu, kemampuan berpikir kreatif dan kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia karena pendekatan kognitif yang kaku dan menurunkan minat belajar mereka. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis penerapan model Contextual Teaching and Learning dalam meningkatkan sikap rasa ingin tahu, keterampilan berpikir kreatif, dan keterampilan berkomunikasi siswa melalui Penelitian Tindakan Kelas yang dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 14 siswa kelas IX Bahasa Indonesia Language B. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah rubrik penilaian untuk mengukur sikap rasa ingin tahu, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, dan kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan terjadinya peningkatan rata-rata nilai rasa ingin tahu dari 67 pada siklus satu menjadi 78 pada siklus kedua dan akhirnya mencapai nilai 86 pada siklus ketiga. Rata-rata nilai kemampuan berpikir kreatif meningkat dari 69 pada siklus satu menjadi 75 pada siklus kedua dan akhirnya mencapai nilai 81 pada siklus ketiga. Rata-rata nilai kemampuan berkomunikasi meningkat dari 57 pada siklus satu menjadi 70 pada siklus kedua dan akhirnya mencapai nilai 79 pada siklus ketiga. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran CTL dapat meningkatkan sikap rasa ingin tahu, kemampuan berpikir kreatif, dan kemampuan berkomunikasi siswa Bahasa Indonesia Language B Kelas IX di sekolah XYZ.
