Abstract

Tanaman Parkia speciosa Hassk. umumnya dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan pangan oleh sebagian masyarakat. Secara empiris daun tanaman ini digunakan untuk menurunkan lemak dalam darah. Tanaman ini memiliki senyawa fenolik yang bermanfaat sebagai antioksidan. Tujuan penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui aktivitas antioksidan dari ekstrak daun petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.). Metode yang dilakukan terdiri dari pengambilan dan pengolahan sampel, ekstraksi, penapisan fitokimia, dan uji aktivitas antioksidan. Ekstraksi menggunakan pelarut etanol 96%. Hasil penapisan fitokimia menunjukkan bahwa ekstrak daun petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) mengandung senyawa alkaloid, fenol, saponin, 6 annin, dan steroid. Uji aktivitas antioksidan menggunakan DPPH konsentrasi 0,226 mM pada panjang gelombang 515 nm. Pada penelitian digunakan Vitamin C sebagai larutan pembanding dan ekstrak daun petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) sebagai larutan uji. Nilai IC 50 ekstrak daun petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) yang didapatkan adalah sebesar 74,26 ppm yang menunjukan ekstrak daun petai termasuk antioksidan kuat. Antioxidant Activity Index yang dihasilkan sebesar 1,2 angka tersebut menunjukkan aktivitas antioksidan ekstrak daun petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) kuat (AAI 1 – 2)./Parkia speciosa Hassk. generally used as food by some people. Empirically the leaves of this plant are used to reduce fat in the blood. This plant has phenolic compounds that are useful as antioxidants. The aim of the study was to determine the antioxidant activity of the leaf extract of petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.). The methods used consisted of sampling and processing, extraction, phytochemical screening, and antioxidant activity tests. Extraction using 96% ethanol as solvent. The results of phytochemical screening showed that the leaf extract of petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) contained alkaloids, phenols, saponins, annins, and steroids. The antioxidant activity test used DPPH with a concentration of 0.226 mM at a wavelength of 515 nm. In this study, Vitamin C was used as a comparison solution and petai leaf extract (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) was used as a test solution. The IC50 value of the petai leaf extract (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) obtained is 74.26 ppm which indicates that the petai leaf extract is a strong antioxidant. The resulting Antioxidant Activity Index of 1.2 indicates that the antioxidant activity of the petai (Parkia speciosa Hassk.) leaf extract is strong (AAI 1-2).
