Abstract

Moisture damage merupakan salah satu kerusakan yang sering terjadi pada perkerasan jalan lentur khususnya di Indonesia yang memiliki curah hujan yang cukup tinggi. Moisture damage dapat terjadi karena adanya interaksi antara air dengan campuran aspal yang dapat menghilangkan ikatan antara aspal dengan agregat sehingga dapat menyebabkan pengelupasan dan ravelling. Pada fenomena ini menjadi salah satu perhatian penting pada warm mix asphalt, dimana penggunaan zeolit yang menggunakan air sering digunakan untuk mencapai suhu yang lebih rendah dibandingkan dengan hot mix asphalt. Anti stripping agent ditambahkan untuk menghindari pengelupasan pada aspal dengan meningkatkan ikatan antara bitumen dan agregat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh dari penambahan anti stripping agent Wetfix BXE dari Nouryon terhadap sifat mekanik dari warm mix asphalt dengan uji semi circular bending yang sebelumnya sudah dilakukan pengujian marshall untuk menentukan kadar aspal optimum. Dari hasil uji marshall penelitian ini menggunakan kadar aspal optimum sebesar 6,1%. Pengujian semi circular bending dilakukan dengan dua kondisi yaitu kering dan rendam selama 24 jam. Kadar anti stripping agent (0,2%,0,3% dan 0,4% dari berat aspal) dibandingkan dengan benda uji kontrol tanpa anti stripping agent. Hasil pengujian semi circular bending ditemukan hal yang berbeda dengan hipotesis awal dimana benda uji kering menghasilkan nilai yang lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan benda uji rendam. Pada penelitian ini benda uji rendam dengan kadar anti stripping agent 0,3% meningkatkan nilai sifat mekanis dibandingkan dengan benda uji tanpa anti stripping agent. Pada benda uji rendam terdapat peningkatan nilai tegangan sebesar 1,99%, fracture energy sebesar 8,55%, flexibility index sebesar 5,87%, fracture toughness sebesar 1,89% dan cracking resistance index sebesar 19,75%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa kadar anti stripping agent optimum untuk warm mix asphalt adalah 0,3%./ Moisture damage is one of the major failures in flexible pavements, especially in Indonesia, due to the high rainfall intensity. Moisture damage occurs due to the interaction between water and asphalt mixture that loosen the bond between asphalt and aggregate, causing stripping and ravelling. The phenomenon is one of the main concerns in warm mix asphalt mixture, where the water containing zeolite is often used to allow a lower mixing temperature than the hot mix asphalt. An anti stripping agent is the applied as an aid to mitigate the stripping that occurs in the asphaltic mix by increasing the bond between bitumen and aggregate. This study aims to examine the influence of the anti stripping agent Wetfix BXE from Nouryon to the mechanical properties of warm mix asphalt mixture by means of content. From the result of Marshall test, the optimum asphalt content for warm mix asphalt was 6,1%. Semi circular bending tests were carried out two conditions; dry and submerged for 24 hours. Various dosages of anti stripping agent (0,2%, 0,3% and 0,4% of bitumen content) were compared to the control mixture without anti stripping agent. The result of semi circular bending test exhibited contrast behaviour to the preliminary hypothesis that dry specimens were expected to have higher properties. This study has shown that the mixture added with 0,3% of anti stripping agent demonstrated the highest increment regarding the mechanical properties in submerged speciment. Those increases were 1,99%, 8,55% 5,87%, 1,87% and 19,75% regarding the stress, fracture energy, flexibility index, fracture toughness and cracking resistance index, respectively. Conclusively 0,3% has become the optimum concentration of anti stripping agent for warm mix asphalt mixture in this study.
