Abstract
Background of this research is a unmotivated student in the learning process,
which made score of scientific performance in science subject for Junior Highschool
grade VIII to IX was low. The purpose of this study was to analyze the effect of
conventional learning models (Teacher Centered Learning) and project-based learning
models (Project Based Learning), which to know how deep the development of value in
scientific performance and student character review on chemical daily product materials.
The type of research used is experimental research with the form of experimental design,
namely Pre-Experimental Design Intact-Group Comparison. The subjects of this study
were 69 students in three classes. The sampling technique in this study used a purposive
sampling technique and a proportional sampling technique. The instrument used was
observation to measure how much development the value of scientific performance was
as well as a review of the student's character in the TCL and PBL learning models. The
results showed an increase in the percentage of scientific performance values for each
indicator, namely the observation indicator on TCL 52% increased to 94.44% on PBL,
planning indicator on TCL 46% increased to 93.53% on PBL, indicator implemented on
TCL 78% increased to 89.81% on PBL, indicators communicating on TCL 51%
increased to 95.37% on PBL, indicators concluded on TCL 73% increased to 89.81% on
PBL, and product yield indicators on TCL 55% increased to 97 .22% on PBL. Likewise,
in the review of increasing student character values on each indicator of curiosity, hard
work, responsibility, communicativeness, creativity, and environmental care, TCL
increased after the implementation of PBL. It can be concluded that the Project Based
Learning model can develop the value of scientific performance in science subjects for
grade VIII to IX junior high school students in Jakarta./Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kurang aktifnya siswa pada proses belajar,
sehingga rendahnya nilai kinerja ilmiah pada mata pelajaran IPA SMP kelas VIII-IX.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis pengaruh model pembelajaran konvensional
(Teacher Centered Learning) dan model pembelajaran berbasis proyek (Project Based
Learning), sehingga mendapatkan seberapa besar pengembangan nilai kinerja ilmiah dan
peninjauan karakter siswa pada materi produk keseharian berbahan kimia. Jenis
penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan bentuk desain
eksperimen yang digunakan yaitu Pre-Experimental Design jenis Intact-Group
Comparison. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 69 siswa dalam tiga kelas. Teknik
pengambilan sampel dalam penelitian ini menggunakan teknik purposive sampling dan
teknik proportional sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah observasi untuk
mengukur seberapa besar pengembangan nilai kinerja ilmiah serta peninjauan karakter
siswa pada model pembelajaran TCL dan PBL. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya
peningkatan presentase nilai kinerja ilmiah untuk setiap indikator, yaitu indikator
observasi pada TCL 52% meningkat menjadi 94,44% pada PBL, indikator merencanakan
pada TCL 46% meningkat menjadi 93,53% pada PBL, indikator melaksanakan pada
TCL 78% meningkat menjadi 89,81% pada PBL, indikator mengkomunikasikan pada
TCL 51% meningkat menjadi 95,37% pada PBL, indikator menyimpulkan pada TCL
73% meningkat menjadi 89,81% pada PBL, dan indikator hasil produk pada TCL 55%
meningkat menjadi 97,22% pada PBL. Demikian juga pada tinjauan peningkatan nilai
karakter siswa pada setiap indikator rasa ingin tahu, kerja keras, tanggung jawab,
komunikatif, kreativitas, dan peduli lingkungan pada TCL mengalami peningkatan
setelah diterapkannya PBL. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Project
Based Learning dapat mengembangkan nilai kinerja ilmiah pada mata pelajaran IPA
siswa kelas VIII-IX SMP di Jakarta.
