Abstract

Pelajaran bahasa Indonesia, khususnya membaca, biasanya terdiri dari kegiatan membaca teks seragam yang diberikan oleh guru dan siswa diminta untuk menjawab serangkaian pertanyaan dengan pola sama secara berulang-ulang. Kegiatan ini dirasakan sebagai kegiatan yang tidak memberikan keterampilan bagi siswa untuk memahami teks yang mereka baca, tidak meningkatkan keaktifan berpikir dan motivasi belajar siswa. Situasi ini menggugah peneliti untuk menerapkan strategi memahami bacaan sebagai alternatif solusi untuk melakukan tindakan perbaikan. Metode penelitian ini adalah penelitian tindakan kelas atau yang biasa dikenal dengan PTK dan bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan proses penerapan strategi memahami bacaan, menganalisis perkembangan kemampuan siswa memahami teks, keaktifan berpikir siswa dan motivasi belajar siswa serta mendeskripsikan kendala-kendala yang dihadapi saat penerapan strategi memahami teks. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi, wawancara, catatan lapangan dan evaluasi siswa menggunakan rubrik. Kegiatan ini terdiri dari tiga siklus dan pada setiap siklusnya dilakukan pengumpulan data. Data yang terkumpul kemudian diolah dan dianalisis secara kualitatif deskriptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa tindakan perbaikan telah dilaksanakan sesuai dengan langkah-langkah penerapan strategi memahami bacaan dan ada peningkatan kemampuan siswa dalam memahami teks, keaktifan berpikir dan motivasi belajar siswa meskipun ada kendala yang dihadapi / The instruction in bahasa Indonesia subject, especially reading, usually only consist of students reading the same text given by teacher and the students are asked to answer list of questions with the same pattern again and again. This activity is considered of not being able to enhance students’ reading comprehension, active thinking and learning motivation. This situation has urged researcher to apply reading comprehension strategy as an alternative solution to the problem as an act of improvement. The method of this research is class action research or also known as CAR/PTK and the goal are to describe the process of implementation of reading comprehension strategy, to analysis the development of students’ reading comprehension, active thinking and learning motivation also to describing the constrains during the implementation of reading comprehension strategy. Data are collected through observation, interview, field note and students’ evaluation using rubric. In this research data is collected in each cycle. The data collected than is processed is analysed with qualitative descriptive and conclusion is drawn. This research conclude that there are increased ability of students’ reading comprehension, active thinking and learning motivation even though there are some constrains that has to be faced
