Abstract
The shift from conventional learning to online learning raises a challenge which is students’ low motivation. This challenge can be overcomed using guided discovery learning (GDL) because it is suitable in online learning and can enhance students’ motivation. This study aims to elaborate how GDL can enhance students’ motivation and how teachers as facilitator can be implemented in GDL. The research method is qualitative descriptive using literature review and supporting data from second practicum. As a Christian teacher, the role as facilitator should be more than facilitating like Jesus did. Jesus facilitated His disciples to discover the truth with His guidance. GDL can enhance students’ motivation because it is a student-centered learning, the students more interested and enjoy the learning. In addition, the teacher has to motivate the students by giving feedback. The teacher as facilitator in GDL can be implemented by following the six stages of GDL. The result shows that teachers as facilitators in GDL can be implemented by facilitating them in problem identification, the process of problem solving, and problematizing the solution. The recommendation for the next research is to have longer period of time in the research to see the effect of GDL.
