Abstract

The issue of gender in the society must be something that Christian teachers are aware of. Christian teachers’ significant role as shepherd should take parts in helping students responding towards such issue according to the scripture. The purpose of this research is to increase teacher awareness of the importance of fostering a Biblical-based belief in order. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study indicate that the discussion on gender diversity as the root of gender discrimination is still taboo to be discussed in the classroom. Having beliefs that are based on biblical values can help Christian teachers to understand social issues. In addition, Christian teachers' beliefs which centered on Christ’s truth can guide students to understand and have the right attitude in responding gender expansive according to Biblical Christian worldview. Parental intervention is also suggested in addressing the education about gender and sex. Further research is needed on appropriate approaches in secondary schools to facilitate discussion of social issues.
