Abstract

Hasil penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa sang anak mempertunjukkan ketrampilan berbicara dalam dua bahasa dalam berinteraksi harian adalah dalam upaya secara pragmatik agar terjadi komunikasi berkesinambungan dengan lawan bicara dalam interaksi keseharian / Globalization has been emerging as a world phenomenon which prevalently interferes into such macro scale implications as international trades and investments, political affairs, education, arts and cultures and even as such a micro scale as in the context of family matters. One clear aspect in the family setting is the major decision in the urge to migrate to another country, regardless of any reasons. Such immigrant young families may later have children who are born and raised in the couples’ new homes. As a matter of fact, there are variations on how those toddlers get exposed to language inputs and subsequently produce spoken languages during their communication. To such an extent, this study explores related literature reviews which link to bilingualism, sociolinguistic dimensions over the performance of pragmatic competence of a bilingual child in the aims to attend to the four research questions as why the very young research participant develops and demonstrates the bilingual ability at ease and fun and how this pragmatic competence is proceeding to develop in the context of an immigrant family. In the size of single individual participant as purposeful sampling, this research project adopts an approach of the case study in a natural setting of observations. The research results suggest that the parents’ motivational factors to retain the original home language play the roles as a resource of maintaining family contacts with members of family and relatives. More importantly, the results also show that the participant has demonstrated a bilingual ability in a pragmatic way in the purposes to keep conversations going during the interactions
