Sejarah diskriminasi akibat prasangka negatif yang telah terjadi semenjak lama menghasilkan beberapa bentuk respon dari masyarakat beretnis Tionghoa hingga saat ini. Salah satu respon yang sekaligus menjadi fokus penelitian ini adalah respon keterbukaan untuk berinteraksi dengan masyarakat beragam (Universal-Diverse Orientation). Salah satu faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi Universal-Diverse Orientation individu adalah faktor kepribadian (Miville dkk., 1999; Strauss & Connerley, 2003). Beberapa faktor karakteristik positif yang berhubungan dengan Universal-Diverse Orientation antara lain, tolerance, openness to experience, selflessness, dan helpfulness. Ciri karakteristik tersebut memiliki kemiripan dengan outcome dan faset dari trait kepribadian Light Triad Personality (Kaufman dkk., 2019). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian (N=200, M=20.91, SD=1.73) yang dilakukan pada mahasiswa beretnis Tionghoa di Pulau Jawa, Light Triad Personality (Light Triad Scale) ditemukan memprediksi Universal-Diverse Orientation (Miville-Guzman Universality-Diversity Scale-Short Form) sebesar 20%. Hal ini berarti Light Triad Personality berperan sebagai faktor kepribadian yang dapat melatarbelakangi munculnya keterbukaan secara tulus pada keberagaman. Penelitian selanjutnya untuk mengeksplorasi Light Triad Personality dapat dilakukan sebagai model kepribadian prososial yang baik. Penulis juga menyarankan untuk melakukan uji beda antar universitas yang bersifat heterogen dan homogen di Indonesia. / The history of discrimination due to negative prejudice that has occurred for a long time has produced several forms of response from the ethnic Chinese community until now. One of the responses that is at the same time the focus of this research is the response to openness to interact with diverse communities (Universal-Diverse Orientation). One of the factors that can influence the individual's Universal-Diverse Orientation is personality (Miville et al., 1999; Strauss & Connerley, 2003). Several positive characteristic factors related to Universal-Diverse Orientation include tolerance, openness to experience, selflessness, and helpfulness. These characteristics have similarities with the outcomes and facets of the Light Triad Personality personality trait (Kaufman et al., 2019). Based on the results of this study (N=200, M=20.91, SD=1.73) conducted on ethnic Chinese students in Java, the Light Triad Personality (Light Triad Scale) was found to predict Universal-Diverse Orientation (Miville-Guzman Universality-Diversity Scale-Short). Forms) by 20%. This means that the Light Triad Personality plays a role as a personality factor that can be the background for the emergence of sincere openness to diversity. Further research to explore the Light Triad Personality can be done as a good prosocial personality model. The author also suggests conducting a different test between universities that are heterogeneous and homogeneous in Indonesia.
