Abstract

The most widely used pavement layer is the asphalt concrete layer (Laston). The Asphalt Concrete Wearing Course (AC-WC) is the topmost layer that is in direct contact with the vehicle's wheels. The top layer on the road pavement that will provide comfort to the rider. The voltage received by the AC-WC layer will be distributed to the layer below it. The asphalt mixture used is a warm mix asphalt (WMA) produced at a temperature of 100°C - 150°C using zeolite and polymer additives. Zeolite is added as much as 1-1.5% of the aggregate weight. Polymer is one of the additives added to the asphalt mixture which has an organic chemical composition of carbon, hydrogen, and non-metallic elements. The polymer used is a superplast polymer with levels of 0%, 4%, 5%, and 6%. The optimum asphalt content used in this study was 5,5% by weight of the mixture. This study aims to analyze the effect of superplast polymer on the modulus of elasticity as a modified asphalt mixture using the dry method. This research uses Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity (UPV) which uses ultrasonic waves to determine the quality of the asphalt concrete mixture. The results showed that the highest value of elastic modulus was at 4% polymer content of 11,50 GPa with density and air void values respectively 2,106 gr/cm3 and 7,44%, while the lowest value was at 5% polymer content of 9,15 GPa with density and air void values of 2,078 gr/cm3 and 8,66%, respectively.
