Abstract

The use of LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) gas is quite important both in households and industries. Ease of use and affordable prices cause LPG to be widely used for household needs. LPG gas has flammable properties, leaks easily and spreads everywhere in the air, making this LPG gas one of the originators of fires. LPG gas leaks are often detected too late and even ignored or not realized, when the fire hazard is difficult to control. Fires caused by gas leaks are exacerbated by the accumulation of the gas itself in a closed room mixed with gas, oxygen and heat. In this final project, the researcher designed an early warning system to detect and monitor gas leaks. Utilizing the ESP32 as the brain or the microcontroller, the MQ-2 sensor is a sensor for detecting LPG gas leaks. This tool can send information to the user through the Blynk application installed on the mobile phone as a media interface in monitoring the actual leakage of LPG gas in real time. The results of testing the accuracy of the ADC data have an average error error for the 1 MQ-2 sensor which is 1.50% and for the 2 MQ-2 sensor the average error error is 1.43% which means it is feasible for a measurement, the results of the second experiment obtained insignificant differences from the gas value read in the ppm formula and ppm library, for sensor error 1 MQ-2 the value is 1.57% and sensor error 2 is 1.63%. The bigger the leak, the bigger the value read by the MQ-2 sensor. The more gas that leaks and accumulates in a closed room, the greater the potential for fire. From these experiments, it was concluded that the distance of the gas leak to the area of the room affects the results of gas leak detection.
