Abstract

The condition of Indonesia's trade balance has acquired deficit status and would lead to complication if there is no concrete action from Indonesia. Diversification of export markets is an act that is believed to be the best alternative to prevent the decline in export value. Through the National Interest Account program implemented by the Indonesia Eximbank, a commercially non-viable program that is considered important by the Indonesian government in terms of national exports. This research uses qualitative approach with explanatory method to explain why NIA program is needed by Indonesian government. The data present in this research is the primary data which obtained by an interview and the secondary data through literature study, then the obtained data will be divided according to each discussion. The results of the research have made clear that NIA plays an important role in the export activities of Indonesia, which provides high-risk financing to nontraditional markets. Therefore Indonesia's exports to non-traditional markets have increased in the form of additional demand and re-procurement of NIA programs in the following year./ Kondisi neraca perdagangan Indonesia yang mengalami status defisit dan berpotensi menjadi berkelanjutan apabila tidak ada aksi konkrit dari Indonesia. Diversifikasi pasar ekspor adalah tindakan yang diyakini sebagai alternatif terbaik dalam upaya mencegah penurunan nilai ekspor. Melalui program National Interest Account yang dilaksanakan oleh Lembaga Pembiayaan Ekspor Indonesia, yaitu program yang bersifat non-viable secara komersil, namun dianggap penting oleh pemerintah Indonesia dalam rangka kepentingan ekspor nasional. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan dukungan metode explanatory untuk menjelaskan mengapa program NIA diperlukan oleh pemerintah Indonesia. Data yang hadir dalam penelitian ini adalah data primer yang merupakan hasil wawancara dan data sekunder melalui studi kepustakaan, kemudian data-data tersebut dibantu dengan pembagian kelompok data sesuai dengan setiap pembahasan. Hasil dari penelitian yang dilakukan telah menjelaskan bahwa NIA berperan penting dalam kegiatan ekspor Indonesia, yaitu menyediakan pembiayaan yang berisiko tinggi ke pasar non-tradisional. Sehingga ekspor Indonesia ke pasar nontradisional mengalami peningkatan dalam bentuk penambahan permintaan dan pengadaan kembali program NIA pada tahun berikutnya.
