Abstract
Tourism is a highly prospective sector in Indonesia as it drives job creation and economic development for its diverse community. Even before the pandemic, this industry is infamous for its tumultuous turnover as most of its workforce is expected to always be in their best performance whilst serving customers. The purpose of this study is to see whether work motivation and job satisfaction are variables that influence employees' intention to leave PT Angkasa Travel International in Medan.
In this quantitative study, survey questionnaires were distributed to every employee working at the company to obtain their answers on factors relating to work motivation and job satisfaction. The data was then processed through coefficient determination, F-test, and T-test analysis methods. The results showed that work motivation has a significant influence on turnover intention, but job satisfaction does not have a significant influence on it. Both variables do simultaneously influence turnover intention significantly.
These results suggest that the company needs to develop more engaging strategies to retain employees in order to prevent rehiring and retraining new employees. Furthermore, it is recommended for PT. Angkasa Travel International to boost employee morale by providing incentives and appealing training regimes. / Pariwisata adalah sektor yang sangat berprospektif di Indonesia karena mendorong penciptaan lapangan kerja dan pembangunan ekonomi bagi masyarakat Indonesia di berbagai daerah. Bahkan sebelum pandemi, industri ini dikenal dengan tingkat turnover yang tinggi karena mayoritas tenaga kerja dalam bidang ini selalu diharapkan untuk memberikan service kerja yang terbaik saat berhadapan dengan pelanggan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk melihat apakah motivasi kerja dan kepuasan kerja merupakan variabel yang mempengaruhi niat karyawan untuk meninggalkan PT. Angkasa Travel International yang berlokasi di Medan.
Dalam penelitian kuantitatif ini, survei kuesioner dibagikan kepada setiap karyawan yang bekerja di perusahaan yang bersangkutan untuk mendapatkan tanggapan mengenai faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan motivasi kerja dan kepuasan kerja. Data tersebut kemudian diolah melalui metode analisis determinasi koefisien, uji tes-F, dan uji tes-T. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa motivasi kerja berpengaruh kuat terhadap turnover intention, namun kepuasan kerja tidak berpengaruh kuat terhadap variabel dependen tersebut.
Hasil dari studi ini menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan perlu mengembangkan strategi yang lebih menarik perhatian karyawan agar dapat dipertahankan untuk bekerja, ini juga menghemat biaya untuk mencari dan melatih ulang tenaga kerja baru dari turnover tersebut. Direkomendasikan juga kepada PT. Angkasa Travel International untuk meningkatkan moral karyawan dengan memberikan insentif dan program pelatihan diri yang menarik agar karyawan dapat lebih termotivasi untuk bekerja.
