Abstract

Latar belakang: Tidur merupakan salah satu aspek penting yang berhubungan langsung dengan kesehatan dan kualitas hidup manusia. Tidur yang baik untuk usia dewasa yaitu sekitar 7-9 jam walaupun juga terdapat perbedaan pada setiap individu. Kualitas tidur dideskripsikan sebagai adanya rasa segar dan bertenaga setelah tidur. Durasi tidur yang kurang serta kualitas tidur yang buruk dapat menyebabkan masalah kesehatan seperti gangguan metabolisme, psikologis, atau kekebalan tubuh, penurunan performa akademik, serta munculnya rasa kantuk berlebih pada siang hari atau yang disebut Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS). Terjadinya EDS dapat menyebabkan penurunan performa kerja maupun akademik serta dapat berdampak pada kesehatan. Tujuan penelitian: Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menentukan hubungan kualitas tidur dengan terjadinya Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) pada mahasiswa Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Metode: Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan metode potong lintang yang dilakukan kepada mahasiswa preklinik Fakultas Kedokteran Universitas Pelita Harapan. Pengambilan data dilakukan dengan menggunakan kuesioner Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) dan Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS). Hasil Penelitian: Terdapat hubungan yang signifikan antara kualitas tidur dengan excessive daytime sleepiness dengan p value 0,010 dan Odds Ratio 7,963. Kesimpulan: Terdapat hubungan antara kualitas tidur dengan excessive daytime sleepiness. / Background: Sleep is an important aspect that is directly related to human health and quality of life. A good sleep for adults is around 7-9 hours although there are differences for each individual. Sleep quality is described as feeling refreshed and energized after sleep. Insufficient sleep duration and poor sleep quality can cause health problems such as metabolic, psychological, or immune disorders, decreased academic performance, and the emergence of daytime sleepiness or what is called Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS). The occurrence of EDS can cause a decrease in work and academic performance and can have an impact on health. Aim: This study was conducted with the aim of determining the relationship between sleep quality and the occurrence of Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS) in students of the Pelita Harapan University, Faculty of Medicine. Methods: This study was conducted using a cross-sectional method which was carried out on preclinical students of the Faculty of Medicine at Pelita Harapan University. Data collection will be done by using Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) questionnaire. Result : There is a significant relation between sleep quality and excessive daytime sleepiness with a p value of 0,010 and an Odds Ratio of 7,963. Conclusion: There is a relation between sleep quality and excessive daytime sleepiness.
