Abstract

Penyandang autisme atau ASD memiliki masalah dalam integrasi sensorik, dikarenakan ketidakmampuan untuk memproses informasi dari beberapa indera secara kolektif yang dilatih dengan terapi integrasi sensori. Informasi yang diterima oleh indera berasal dari lingkungan sekitar, sehingga lingkungan sekitar memiliki pengaruh kuat terhadap penderita ASD, yang dapat mempengaruhi cara mereka memahami dan berinteraksi dengan dunia disekitar mereka. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat pengaruh desain prototipe yang berperan sebagai alat terapi sensori anak dalam perkembangan dan peningkatan kemampuan sensori anak yang dilaksanakan terhadap murid-murid di sekolah President Special Needs Center. Selain itu penelitian juga bertujuan untuk menghasilkan strategi desain perancangan terapi integrasi sensori anak yang diterapkan secara meruang, dengan menguji dan mengevaluasi kembali peran dan penerapan material yang dilihat dari interaksi dan respon anak. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif, yang dilakukan dengan mengobservasi bagaimana aktivitas, respon, dan interaksi anak penyandang ASD terhadap prototipe. / People with autism have problems with sensory integration, due to the inability to process information from senses collectively, which can be trained with sensory integration therapy. information received by the senses comes from the surrounding environment, the environment itself has a big role in impacting on how they perceive and interact with the world around them. This study aims to determine whether the prototype designed as sensory therapy tools affects the development and improvement of children’s sensory abilities, which is applied to the students at the President Special Needs Center. This research also aims to produce a design strategy for designing sensory integration therapy spatially, by testing and reevaluating the role and application of materials observed from their interactions and responses. This study is done by applying a qualitative method with a descriptive approach, which is done by observing the activities, responses, and interactions of children with ASD on the prototype.
