Abstract

This research discusses about the construction of a guitar using a body made of acrylic with a built-in Fuzz effect circuit inside the guitar body. The schematic used for the assembled Fuzz circuit is Behringer Ultra Fuzz (UZ-400), which is simulated using NI MULTISIM software. In the Behringer Ultra Fuzz (UZ-400) and the self-assembled Fuzz circuit, there is a Fuzz potensiometers to increase the gain, but the most important function is to increase the clipping effect, and the Tone potensiometer that serves to increase the response at high frequency. This research discusses the design process of constructing the acrylic guitar. In this research, measurements were taken to compare Behringer Ultra Fuzz (UZ-400), as a reference, with the assembled Fuzz effect, and to compare the sound of a wood guitar with the acrylic guitar. These measurements include signal in time domain, HBS (Harmonic Bandwidth Spread), and blind test. The acrylic guitar shows a larger HBS at about 5th harmonic orders than the wooden guitar. For the blind tests, 100% of the interviewees can distinguish between the sound of the wooden guitar and the acrylic guitar. Whereas the opinion about which sound is better are inconsistent. The comparison between Behringer Ultra Fuzz (UZ-400) and the self-assembled Fuzz shows that the Behringer Ultra Fuzz has a gain of 1.35 and the self-assembled Fuzz a gain of 2.84 from an input with the same magnitude of 500 mV. The Behringer Ultra Fuzz (UZ-400) has a larger HBS of about 3rd order harmonics compared to the assembled fuzz. For the blind test, 50% of interviewees can not distinguish between the sound of Behringer Ultra Fuzz Effect and the assembled Fuzz. Meanwhile, for interviewees who can distinguish the two effects, the opinion about which sound is better are inconsistent./ Penelitian ini membahas mengenai pembuatan gitar menggunakan body berbahan akrilik dengan rangkaian efek Fuzz built-in yang berada di dalam body gitar.
