Abstract
The third trimester of pregnancy is marked as the home stretch as the mothers are getting ready for labor. Breathlessness is one of the many challenges that most pregnant mothers experience especially during the third trimester. Music therapy is an intervention that uses music and music-based activities to achieve non-musical therapeutic goals and objectives. By using the singing and vocalization interventions, the mothers can learn the different breathing techniques to improve their breathing capacity. The improvement in their breathing capacity will help them prepare for labor. This case study analyzed the use of singing and vocalization interventions to help improve the breathing capacity of three pregnant mothers in their third trimester who are employees of Siloam Hospital Lippo Village. A total of eight music therapy sessions were conducted for each patient. Two participants were able to attend all sessions. The results from the research showed that the use of singing and vocalization interventions could help improve the patients’ breathing capacity.
