Convention On Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women or known as CEDAW is a legal international instrument that was made to erase any forms of discrimination against women. Formally and legally adopted by the United Nations on September 3rd, 1979. In 1984, Indonesia decided to ratify the convention through law number 7 of Republic Indonesia to eliminate gender discrimination inside the country. The role of the government, especially the role of the ministry of women empowerment and child protection had become one of the most important in the issuance of regulations and laws to eliminate this issue. This conducted qualitative research was done with comparative descriptive approach in its analysis, with the objective to know about the importance of the CEDAW convention applied in the implementation and programs of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection along with the government, because until today, the implemented policies have not shown or give any significant result in increasing gender equality in Indonesia. This research finds the importance of CEDAW in the programs and the regulations of the state. The role of the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection in responding to CEDAW in Indonesia during President Joko Widodo’s administrative period is heading at the right direction, but at the local scale the implementation is still not yet optimal /Convention On Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women atau CEDAW adalah sebuah konvensi internasional yang dipakai menjadi sebuah instrumen untuk menghapus segala bentuk diskriminasi terutama dan terpenting terhadap perempuan, di adopsi oleh PBB dan disahkan pada tanggal 3 September 1979. Di tahun 1984 melalui Undang – Undang Republik Indonesia nomor 7, Indonesia ikut meratifikasi konvensi ini untuk menghapuskan diskriminasi gender di dalam negeri. Peran pemerintah khususnya Kementerian Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak sangat penting dalam pengeluaran regulasi – regulasi dan aturan untuk mengatasi masalah ini. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dibuat dengan metode komparatif deskriptif dengan objektif untuk mengetahui pentingnya konvensi CEDAW dalam program dan implementasi Kementerian Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak bersama dengan pemerintah, karena hingga saat ini kebijakan yang telah berjalan belum memberikan dan menentukan hasil yang maksimal dalam meningkatkan kesetaraan gender di Indonesia. Hasil penelitian menunjukan pentingnya CEDAW dalam program dan kebijakan negara. Peran Kementerian Pemberdayaan Perempuan dan Perlindungan Anak dalam merespon CEDAW di Indonesia pada masa pemerintahan Presiden Joko Widodo telah menunjukan arah yang tepat, tetapi dalam implementasinya pada skala lokal masih belum maksimal.
