Abstract
"Quiet : The Secret Strength of Introvert" adalah buku bantuan diri yang ditulis oleh Susan Cain dengan tujuan untuk mendidik anak-anak dan remaja mengenai konsep dari introversi dan mencari keseimbangan dalam kehidupan sosial. Susan Cain melakukan penelitian selama 7 (tujuh) tahun yang membahas perspektif introversi yang disalahpahami oleh masyarakat dan menganggap ekstoversi lebih ideal. Metode dalam penelitian ini adalah kualitatif dengan pengolahan data studi pustaka dengan tujuan mencari tahu strategi visual yang diperlukan dalam buku ini. Berdasarkan pembahasan secara wujud, konten, dan konteks disimpulkan bahwa buku ini memiliki data ilmiah yang teruji dan penulis melihat bahwa penyampaian informasi dalam buku ini dapat dikembangkan secara visual agar target pembacanya lebih luas dan komunikatif. Tahap awal untuk membangun visual yang fungsional adalah perancangan visual, lewat proses perancangan penulis menentukan struktur, tema desain keseluruhan, dan gaya ilustrasi untuk disesuaikan dengan target pembaca yang ditujukan. Secara spesifik meliputi penentuan elemen visual seperti warna, penggambaran garis, jenis tipografi, tata letak, dan penempatan ilustrasi. Konsep yang di balik ilustrasi adalah konten yang pada buku dan diterjemahkan menjadi visual. Maka dengan demikian, kesimpulan yang dapat diambil setelah perancangan adalah lewat karya ini diharapkan dapat membantu pembaca dalam mengenal konsep introversi yang disajikan dengan ilustrasi berwarna dan bersifat simbolik serta memberikan pengalaman imanjinatif dalam mengintrepretasi konten tekstual yang ditulis oleh Susan Cain./ "Quiet: The Secret Strength of Introvert" is a self-help book written by Susan Cain with the aim of educating children and young people about the concept of introversion and finding balance in social life. Susan Cain conducted a research for 7 (seven) years that discussed the perspective of introversion that was misunderstood by society and considered extoversion to be more ideal. The method in this research is qualitative with literature study data processing with the aim of finding out the visual strategies needed in this book. Based on the discussion of form, content, and key contexts, this book has proven scientific data and the author sees that the delivery of information in this book can be developed visually so that the target audience is wider and communicative. The initial stage for building visuals is visual planning, through the design process the author determines the structure, overall design theme, and illustration style to suit the intended target audience, specifically covering visual elements such as color, line drawing, typography, layout, and illustration placement. The concept behind the illustration is the content of the book itself and is visually implemented. Therefore, once designed, this work is an imaginative experience for readers to recognize the concept of introversion, present it in colorful and symbolic illustrations, and interpret the textual content written by Susan Cain.
