So far, Notary services to the public are still conventional, but with the development of information technology, Notary services inevitably have to shift to electronic services which are currently known as cyber notaries. . In Article 1 paragraph (13) of Law Number 30 of 2004 concerning Amendments to Law Number 30 of 2004 concerning the Position of a Notary, it is explained that the Notary Protocol is one of the state documents, therefore the notary protocol must be treated like a state document stored and kept authentic. Therefore, the notary protocol must always be kept and maintained under any circumstances, even if the notary who owns the protocol is on leave or dies. Because the Notary Protocol is categorized as a State Archive, indirectly the archive is also subject to Law Number 43 of 2009 concerning Archives. The Archives Law recognizes the existence of electronic archives. Selama ini pelayanan Notaris kepada masyarakat masih bersifat konvensional, tetapi dengan berkembangnya teknologi informasi layanan Notaris mau tidak mau juga harus bergeser menuju layanan elektronik yang saat ini dikenal sebagai cyber notary. Pada Pasal 1 ayat (13) Undang-Undang Nomor 30 Tahun 2004 tentang Perubahan atas Undang-Undang Nomor 30 Tahun 2004 tentang Jabatan Notaris, dijelaskan bahwa Protokol Notaris merupakan salah satu asrip negara, oleh karena itu protokol notaris haruslah diperlakukan layaknya dokumen negara yang disimpan dan dijaga agar tetap otentik. Maka dari itu protokol notaris harus selalu disimpan dan dipelihara dalam keadaan apapun meskipun notaris yang memiliki protokol tersebut tengah mengambil cuti maupun meninggal dunia. Dikarenakan Protokol Notaris dikategorikan sebagai Arsip Negara, maka secara tidak langsung pengarsipannya juga tunduk kedalam Undang-Undang Nomor 43 Tahun 2009 tentang Kearsipan. Pada Undang-Undang Kearsipan tersebut menenal adanya arsip elektronik. Teknologi Blockchain menawarkan cara untuk melakukan pengarsipan secara digital yang sifatnya terdesentralisasi.
