Abstract
Professional Learning Community (PLC) is a form of collaboration between
teachers in schools, parents, and the community in forming a learning community
with focus on vision and mission including results orientation. A leadership strategy
is needed to improve the quality of human resources and a culture of collaboration
through PLC. Schools as a community become a shared mission in expanding
children at the Mangunan Experimental Kindergarten in Yogyakarta. This school
has unique, especially in project-based learning, a culture of collaboration, diversity
and independence education. This research is a qualitative research with three
research objectives. First, knowing the PLC practice in this school. Second, identify
leadership strategies through school principals in forming a culture of collaboration.
Third, identify the teacher's role in collaborating and running the PLC. The research
subjects consisted of 1 principal and 8 teachers. The interview method was
conducted in a structured and semi-structured manner in schools. The results of the
study show that the PLC in this school has a peculiarity in learning, namely forming
an EKI climate (explorative – creative – integral), a culture of collaboration has
been lived by all school members from across levels including foundations. The
principal's leadership strategy uses dialogical communication starting from
evaluation, reflection, discussion, planning and decision making. Guru Mangunan
is a teacher who knows children, prioritizes collaboration, appreciation, exploration
in developing children and creating students who have a heart.
