Abstract

Science process skills, critical thinking, and self-confidence are life skills that take an important role in everyone’s life, so they need to be developed at an early age. All of those competencies are not yet developed well in grade 1F students in the elementary school SD XYZ Tangerang. The aim of the research is to analyze the application of Discovery Learning model in order to improve grade 1F students’ ability in science process skills, critical thinking, and self-confidence. The research method is class action research. The research was applied to 29 students in the grade 1F elementary school SD XYZ Tangerang as the subject of the study. Students’ progress in their science process skill, critical thinking, and self-confidence was measured by a set of rubrics. The results showed a significant improvement in the students from the first, second, and third cycle. The average science process skill score in the first cycle was 54.60, in the second cycle was 79.60, and in the third cycle was 87.64. The average critical thinking score in the first cycle was 63.51, in the second cycle was 77.01, and in the third cycle was 85.63. The average self-confidence score in the first cycle was 59.77, in the second cycle was 76.72, and in the third cycle was 82.18. Based on the result, it is concluded that Discovery Learning model can improve the science process skill, dan self-confidence in the Science Lesson for grade I F students in the elementary school SD XYZ Tangerang. / Keterampilan proses sains, berpikir kritis, dan percaya diri merupakan kecakapan hidup yang memegang perananan yang sangat penting dalam kehidupan setiap orang sehingga dikembangkan sedari dini. Ketiga kompetensi tersebut belum berkembang pada siswa kelas satu sekolah SD XYZ Tangerang. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penerapan model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dalam meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains, berpikiri kritis, dan percaya diri siswa kelas I F pada pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas. Metode penelitian terdiri dari tiga siklus yaitu dengan melakukan tahapan perencanaan, observasi, tindakan dan reffleksi pada masing-masing siklus. Subjek penelitian adalah 29 orang siswa kelas I F sekolah dasar SD XYZ Tangerang. Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan untuk memperoleh data adalah rubrik penilaian untuk mengukur keterampilan proses sains, dan percaya diri. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terjadi peningkatan pada keterampilan proses sains, berpikir kritis, dan percaya diri. Nilai rata-rata keterampilan proses sains pada siklus satu adalah 54.60, pada siklus dua 79.60, dan pada siklus tiga 87.64. Nilai rata-rata berpikir kritis pada siklus satu yaitu 63.51, pada siklus dua 77.01, dan pada siklus tiga 85.63. Nilai rata-rata percaya diri pada siklus satu yaitu 59.77, pada siklus dua 76.72, dan pada siklus tiga 82.18. Dari hasil tersebut dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran Discovery Learning dapat meningkatkan keterampilan proses sains, berpikir kritis, dan percaya diri pada pembelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam siswa kelas I F di sekolah SD XYZ Tangerang.
