Abstract
Kata kunci: vitamin B kompleks, parestesia, diabetes melitus tipe 2/Background: There are around 462 million people in the world have experienced type 2 diabetes, which is characterized by hyperglycemia. One of the complications that are often experienced by patients with type 2 diabetes is paresthesia. Untimely diagnosis and management for this complication can lead into more severe outcome. To overcome this problem, B-Complex vitamin can be one of the treatments for paresthesia which has very low toxicity.
Objective: This study aims to prove that B-Complex vitamin can reduce paresthesia.
Methods: This study was conducted in a retrospective cohort study with a population of patients diagnosed with type 2 DM. The population was determined using purposive sampling and data were obtained by filling out the NTSS-6 questionnaire. In this study, the distribution of the data was not normal, so the Mann-Withney U statistical test was used using the SPSS 25.0 program.
Results: There was no significant result (p=0.926) regarding the effect of B-Complex vitamin consumption in reducing paresthesia in type 2 DM patients.
Conclusion: B-Complex vitamin did not affect the decrease in paresthesia in patients with type 2 diabetes, and the prevalence of paresthesia as well as B-Complex vitamin consumption in patients with type 2 diabetes in the study population are 64.7% and 66.6% respectively.
