Abstract

English is widely used in everyday life and it is a universal language that has been used throughout the world. That is why since in an early age, children are introduced to English because at this age the child's brain is developing well and children are able to learn quickly about all the things that they see and hear. With the current online learning situation, children are expected to improve their reading, writing, and speaking skills in English. In this study, using the Phonics Method, students were stimulated and trained to pronounce the correct phonemes (sounds) of the alphabet, which would later help them to learn how to combine several phonemes or sound into some words. This research was conducted on 20 TK B students with the purpose to find out the impact of Phonics method application in learning to reading, writing, and speaking skills. The method used in this research is Classroom Action Research with three cycles. This research was conducted by giving a score during observation according to the existing rubric and doing quantitative data analysis. The result of this research was found that 85% of students achieved very good reading skills development, 75% students achieved very good writing skills, and 85% of students achieved very good speaking skills. / Bahasa Inggris sudah banyak digunakan di dalam kehidupan sehari-hari dan merupakan bahasa universal yang digunakan di seluruh dunia. Karena itulah sejak usia dini anak-anak sudah diperkenalkan dengan Bahasa Inggris karena pada usia ini otak anak sedang berkembang dengan baik dan anak bisa cepat mempelajari hal-hal apapun yang mereka lihat dan dengar. Dengan situasi pembelajaran daring yang dilakukan pada saat ini, anak diharapkan bisa meningkatkan keterampilan membaca, menulis, dan berbicara dalam Bahasa Inggris. Pada penelitian ini dengan menggunakan metode Phonics, siswa-siswi diberikan stimulasi dan dilatih untuk melafalkan fonem (sound) dari huruf abjad, yang nantinya akan membantu mereka untuk menggabungkan beberapa fonem hingga menjadi kata. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 20 siswa TK B dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui dampak penerapan metode Phonics pada pembelajaran terhadap keterampilan membaca, menulis, dan berbicara. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan 3 siklus. Penelitian ini dilakukan melalui observasi dengan memberikan skor saat observasi sesuai rubrik yang ada dan melakukan analisis data secara kuantitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini ditemukan bahwa 85% siswa mencapai perkembangan keterampilan membaca sangat baik, 75% siswa mencapai perkembangan keterampilan menulis sangat baik, dan 85% siswa mencapai perkembangan keterampilan berbicara sangat baik.
