Abstract

Teaching and learning process are divided into three phases; opening, delivering material and closing class. All these phases are equally important. The opening session determines the flow of the learning process. Teacher is supposed to state clearly the learning objective, review previous lesson by connecting with students’ experience to the topic in class to motivate students during the learning process. Otherwise, teacher tend to ignore the activity of the beginning the class. The purpose of this research is to find the importance and challenges using apperception strategy to stimulate students’ motivation in teaching and learning process. Instruments that supported this research are mentor’s feedback, teaching reflection and transcription mentor’s feedback orally. Therefore, the importance is to motivate students in learning, so the students can enjoy the learning process. The challenges are to give extra effort to provide the activity to stimulate students’ motivation and unconfident of teacher in teaching. It is suggested for teacher to be reflective and upgrade the way of teaching to find best strategies to stimulate students’ motivation since the beginning of the class. It is suggested to find another strategy to stimulate students’ motivation in learning.
