Abstract

Kata kunci yang digunakan dalam pencarian artikel adalah “Effectiveness” AND “mirror therapy” AND “stroke patients” AND “Randomized Controlled Trial” dan “Efektivitas” AND “terapi cermin” AND “pasien stroke” AND “Randomized Controlled Trial”. / Background: Stroke or Cerebrovascular disease is a disease caused by impaired brain function related to rupture or blockage of blood vessels that supply blood to the brain. Each year there are 13.7 million new cases of stroke and about 5.5 million deaths occur because of stroke. In Indonesia, approximately 2,129,326 people > 15 years of age have a stroke. Clinical manifestations that are often experienced by stroke patients are hemiparesis and hemiplegia, so requires a medical rehabilitation. Mirror therapy is one of the non-pharmacological therapies, using mirrors as a therapeutic medium. The purpose of the study: to illustrate the effectiveness of mirror therapy in improving muscle strength in stroke patients. Research method of analysis: a simplified approach, with article searching used three databases namely Google Scholar, Medline, dan JSTOR. Quality analysis of research methods has been conducted using PRISMA Flow Diagram and JBI Critical Appraisal Checklist. The keywords used in the article search were “Effectiveness” AND “mirror therapy” AND “stroke patients” AND “Randomized Controlled Trial” and “Effectiveness” AND “mirror therapy” AND “stroke patients” AND “Randomized Controlled Trial”. Results: Mirror therapy is effective for increasing muscle strength in stroke patients in terms of motor skills, patient characteristics, mirror therapy procedures, and in combination with other rehabilitation therapies. Conclusion: Mirror therapy is effective in increasing muscle strength in stroke patients.
