Abstract
Prokrastinasi akademik adalah penundaan terhadap tugas yang dilakukan oleh individu secara sengaja dan berulang. Hal ini akan berdampak pada rendahnya kualitas dari mahasiswa serta citra perguruan tinggi di mata masyarakat. Jenis kelamin dan pola asuh orangtua adalah faktor-faktor yang dapat mempengaruhi seseorang melakukan prokrastinasi akademik. Penelitian kuantitatif ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan kecenderungan prokrastinasi akademik mahasiswa Universitas X di Surabaya ditinjau dari jenis kelamin dan pola asuh orangtua. Alat ukur yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini berupa kuesioner prokrastinasi akademik (p=0,939; p>0,6) dan kuesioner pola asuh orangtua (p=0,910; p>0,6). Dalam penelitian ini terdapat 92 mahasiswa yang terdiri dari 46 mahasiswa laki-laki dan 46 mahasiswa perempuan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan tidak ada perbedaan kecenderungan prokrastinasi akademik ditinjau dari jenis kelamin (p=0,81; p>0,05), ada perbedaan kecenderungan prokrastinasi akademik ditinjau dari pola asuh orangtua (p=0,000; p<0,05), dan tidak ada perbedaan kecenderungan prokrastinasi akademik ditinjau dari jenis kelamin dan pola asuh orangtua (p=0,515; p>0,05). Tidak adanya perbedaan kecenderungan prokrastinasi akademik ditinjau dari jenis kelamin lebih disebabkan oleh karakteristik dari mahasiswa. Tidak adanya perbedaan kecenderungan prokrastinasi akademik ditinjau dari jenis kelamin dan pola asuh orangtua, dikarenakan pola asuh yang dipilih orangtua lebih ditentukan oleh faktor urutan kelahiran sehingga tidak dapat dikaitkan dengan jenis kelamin. Oleh karena itu pihak mahasiswa diharapkan dapat mengatur waktu dan mengontrol aktivitas dengan baik. Selain itu, pihak orangtua juga diharapkan dapat lebih memperhatikan pola asuh yang diberikan pada anak / Academic procrastination is defined as a delay in doing the assignments by individuals deliberately and repeatedly. This will result in the low quality of university students as well as the reputation of the university. Gender and parenting style some that can affect one’s academic procrastination. The purpose of this quantitative research is to examine differences of academic procrastination tendency viewed from the perspective of gender and parenting style. The research instruments used in this research were questionnaire on academic procrastination (p=0,939; p>0,6) and questionnaire on parenting style (p=0,910; p>0,6). This research involved a total 92 students consisting of 46 male students and 46 female students. The results show that there is no differences between male students and female students in their academic procrastination tendency (p=0,81; p>0,05), parenting style affects academic procrastination tendency (p=0,000; p<0,05) , and there is no differences between gender and parenting style in academic procrastination tendency (p=0,515; p>0,05). The absence of differences in academic procrastination tendency between the male students and the female students is caused by the characteristics of the students. The absence of differences in academic procrastination tendeny between gender and parenting style is because the selected parenting style of the parents is more determined by the factor of birth order and therefore cannot be associated with gender. Therefore, students are expected to be able to schedule their time and control their activities properly. In addition, parents are also expected to consider their parenting style
