Abstract
Studi tentang kerja virtual semakin banyak karena berkembangnya teknologi komunikasi dan meluasnya suatu usaha yang dilakukan oleh orang-orang. Studi-studi tersebut menunjukkan bahwa kerja virtual menjadi sarana untuk melancarkan bisnis yang dimiliki oleh mereka. Salah satu studi menunjukkan bahwa kerja virtual memiliki kepemimpinan yang berbeda dengan kepemimpinan pada umumnya. Kinerja karyawan juga berkorelasi secara langsung terhadap jenis kepemimpinan yang dimiliki oleh atasannya. Jenis kepemimpinan yang sesuai akan meningkatkan kinerja karyawan dalam suatu perusahaan.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis gaya kepemimpinan dalam kerja virtual di sebuah perusahaan swasta (PT. Mitra Sakti Entertainment), dalam usaha untuk meningkatkan kinerja karyawan mereka, mengidentifikasi permasalahan-permasalahan yang timbul dari kerja virtual yang dilakukan dalam perusahaan ini, serta memberikan saran-saran perbaikan terhadap sistem dan kepemimpinan perusahaan agar kinerja karyawan dapat meningkat. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif-studi kasus, melalui proses observasi dan wawancara terhadap informan yang terkait dengan perusahaan / The study of virtual work is increasing due to the development of communication technologies and the expansion of the work field done by the people. These studies indicate that virtual work becomes a way to run the business around the world. One of the study showed that virtual work have different leadership style when they run the business with the leadership in general. Employee performance is also directly correlated to the type of leadership that the superiors use. Appropriate type of leadership will improve the performance of the employees in a company.
The purpose of this study was to analyze the leadership style in virtual work in a private company (PT Mitra Sakti Entertainment), in an effort to improve their employee performance, identifying the problems arising from the virtual work done by this company, as well as providing recommendations improvements to the system and the leadership of the company in order to increase the employee performance. This study used qualitative research methods - a case study, through the process of observation and interviews with the informants associated with the company
