Abstract

Background : Premenstrual syndrome causes physical and psychological symptoms and is a phenomenon often found in women of reproductive age.. In Indonesia, 70-90 % women of reproductive age have experienced PMS with 2 % having very severe symptoms. To conduct screening and establishing a PMS diagnosis, complete history of a person’s physical and mental condition is required. PMSS (Premenstrual syndrome Scale) consists of 40 questions divided to 3 major categories such, physiology, psychology and behavior. The questionnaire has been used in various countries but none in indonesia.
Purpose : Adapting and developing Indonesian verison of PMSS
Research
method : The PMSS ( premenstrual Syndrome Scale)is translated into indonesia and transalted back into english. Sample is selected by incidental sampling followed with filling out online questionnaire. Internal consistency is measured by cronbach alpha, test-retest reability is tested by pearson coorelation. Validity is tested using pearson coorelation
Result : from 107 respondents only 61 people meet the inclusion criteria. Face validity test changed 3 items namely ‘ Insomnia and hyperinsomnia’ , ‘obsessive mind’, and ‘compulsive behaviour’. Pearson coorelation shows r count > r table and p value <0,05. Cronbach alpha for internal consistency reability is 0.961 and test-retest reability is 0,86
Conclusion : Indonesian version of PMSS is proven to be valid and reliable to screen the severity of premenstrual syndrome for women in Indonesia
Key words :validity , reability and PMSS
