Abstract

Pengembangan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis merupakan salah satu tujuan dari pembelajaran dalam bidang matematika. Fakta yang ditemukan selama masa PPL 2 di salah satu sekolah swasta di Jakarta, memperlihatkan rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis yang dimiliki oleh siswa. Masalah matematis sendiri ada dalam soal-soal yang pemecahannya harus melalui beberapa langkah tertentu. Berdasarkan identifikasi masalah ini, maka paper ini ditulis dengan tujuan untuk menjelaskan penerapan pendekatan Problem Solving Polya dalam meningkatkan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Secara garis besar penerapan pendekatan ini dimulai dengan tahap pendahuluan, pengembangan, penerapan, hingga penutup. Kemudian lebih spesifik lagi, pada saat menyelesaikan masalah matematis digunakan langkah-langkah menurut Polya. Kemampuan pemecahan masalah ini akan dibutuhkan dalam mengatasi berbagai permasalahan dalam kehidupan. Lebih lagi dalam kaitannya dengan mandat yang diberikan kepada manusia sebagai gambar Allah yaitu untuk mengolah bumi. Adapun penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Setelah penelitian ini dilakukan, didapati bahwa terjadi peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa. Ini terlihat dari peningkatan pada setiap indikator kemampuan pemecahan masalah. Saran kepada penulis selanjutnya yang hendak membahas topik yang serupa yaitu penerapan pendekatan Problem Solving Polya, adalah dapat memberi latihan soal masalah matematis yang lebih variatif kepada siswa. / The development of mathematical problem-solving skills is one of the learning objectives in mathematics. The facts found during the PPL 2 period in a school in Jakarta show the low mathematical problem-solving skills of students. Mathematical problems themselves exist in problems whose solution must go through certain steps. Based on the identification of this problem, this paper was written with the aim of explaining the application of Polya's problem-solving approach to improving students' mathematical problem-solving skills. In general, the implementation of this approach begins with the introduction, development, implementation, and closing. Then, more specifically, when solving mathematical problems, the steps according to Polya. These problem-solving skills will be needed to overcome various problems in life. Even more so in relation to the mandate given to humans as the image of God, namely to cultivate the earth. This research was conducted using a descriptive qualitative method. It was found that after this research was conducted, there was an increase in students' mathematical problem-solving skills. This can be seen from the improvement in each indicator of problem-solving skills. The next writer who wants to discuss a similar topic, the application of Polya's problem solving approach, is to be able to provide students with more varied mathematical problem exercises.
