Abstract

Proses belajar mengajar dapat diukur salah satunya melalui tes hasil belajar yang dicapai oleh siswa (Sinar, 2018). Baik siswa maupun guru mengharapkan adanya hasil belajar yang baik sebagai bentuk pertanggungjawaban kepada Tuhan. Tetapi, fakta di lapangan menunjukkan beberapa permasalahan terkait dengan hasil belajar siswa. Hasil tes menunjukkan bahwa siswa memiliki tingkat kognitif yang masih rendah. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut peneliti memilih metode Drill untuk memperbaiki hasil belajar siswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penerapan metode Drill dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa dan mengetahui langkah-langkah penerapan metode untuk meningkatkan hasil belajar siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) yang dikemukakan oleh Pelton (2010) dengan lima tahap yaitu identifikasi masalah, pengumpulan data, perencanaan tindakan, pelaksanaan tindakan, dan hasil penilaian. Penelitian ini dilakukan terhadap 23 siswa kelas VIII di Sekolah Lentera Harapan Way Pengubuan di daerah Lampung yang terdiri dari 11 siswa laki-laki dan 12 siswi perempuan. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada tanggal 4 September sampai 12 Oktober 2018. Metode Drill yang diterapkan oleh peneliti terdiri dari tujuh tahap yaitu 1.) Menjelaskan tujuan pembelajaran kepada siswa, 2.) Menjelaskan konsep materi kepada siswa, 3.) Memberi latihan secara bertahap, 4.) Memperhatikan kesulitan siswa, 5.) Memberi latihan intensif untuk bagian yang sulit bagi siswa, 6.) Observasi dan evaluasi, 7.) Refleksi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa metode Drill yang digunakan belum dapat meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa./ Teaching and learning process can be measured through, one of them, is the test result of students’ achievement (Sinar, 2018). Either students or teacher both were hoping to get a good students’ achievement result as a responsibility to God. But the reality in field shows that students were having difficulties related to students’ achievement. Based on that issue, researcher implemented Drill to enhance students’ achievement result. The purpose of this research is to know whether the implementation of Drill able to enhance students’ achievement result and know the steps of the implementation to enhance students’ achievement result. Research method used was Classroom Action Research (CAR) stated by Pelton (2010) with five steps of implementation which are issue identification, data collection, activation planning, plan activation, and outcome assessment. This research was done within 23 grade VIII students at Sekolah Lentera Harapan Way Pengubuan Lampung which consists of 11 boys and 12 girls. The research was done in September 4th until October 12th, 2018. Drill Method applied stands for 7 steps of implementation which are 1) Explaining learning objectives to the students, 2) Explain the concept to the students, 3) Gradually giving the assignment, 4) Pay attention to the students’ difficulties, 5) Giving intensive assignment for the hard part, 6) Observation and evaluation, 7) Reflection. The result shown that Drill method used have not been able to enhances students’ cognitive achievement.
