Abstract

Penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya hubungan antara kadar HbA1c dengan pruritus pada pasien DM tipe 2 di RS Siloam./ HbA1c level test can be used as an assessment of diabetes mellitus (DM) control. One of the symptoms that can be caused by uncontrolled blood glucose is pruritus, The results of research regarding the relationship of HbA1c levels and pruritus are still inconsistent. This study aims to determine the relationship between these variables in diabetic patients. This study try to determine the relationship between HbA1c levels with the severity of pruritus in patients with type 2 DM at Siloam Hospital. There is a significant correlation between HbA1c levels and the severity of pruritus in type 2 DM patients at Siloam Hospital. This study is a correlative analytic study with a cross-sectional design. Total of 48 patients aged 18-65 years with type 2 DM were selected by Convenience Sampling. The assessment of HbA1c levels was obtained from the results in the medical record and the degree of pruritus was measured by using a VAS questionnaire. Statistical analysis was done by Pearson correlation or Spearman. The result showed that there is a corrrelation between HbA1c levels and pruritus (p<0.05) with a positive correlation (r=0,551). From all patients whose in the range of 5.5-11.1%, 18 patients (37.5%) had no pruritus, 13 patients (27%) had mild pruritus, 9 patients (18.8%) had moderate pruritus, 5 patients (10.4%) had severe pruritus, and 3 patients (6.3%) had very severe pruritus. This study showed a correlation between HbA1c levels and pruritus in type 2 DM patients at Siloam Hospital.
