Lahir dalam keluarga kaum minoritas seringkali memberikan dampak negatif bagi kepribadian anak. Langkah serius telah dilakukan oleh UNESCO untuk mengatasi masalah ini, salah satunya melalui film. Film memiliki potensi untuk menjadi penggerak kesetaraan, dan saat ini telah mengalami peningkatan yang masif dengan hadirnya layanan film streaming seperti Netflix, Disney+ dan lainnya. Penelitian ini ingin menginvestigasi representasi identitas anak yang dibesarkan oleh orang tua tunarungu yang ditunjukkan dalam film "CODA" sebagai pemenang Piala Oscar 2022 dalam kategori Best Pictures. Metodologi yang digunakan adalah semiotika dengan pendekatan Roland Barthes yang menggunakan signifikasi dua tahap untuk menganalisis teks media agar menghasilkan makna yang mengacu kepada asosiasi sosial budaya dan personal. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan makna mengenai identitas baik secara negatif maupun positif dari seorang CODA, perkembangan identitas seorang CODA pada masa remaja, identitas diri yang berbeda dari seorang CODA, serta konflik identitasnya. Pada akhirnya makna utama yang ditemukan adalah pemilihan identitas oleh seorang CODA sebagai tunarungu, mendengar, atau keduanya. / Born in a family of minority oftentimes render a negative effect for children personality. Serious measures have been conducted by UNESCO to overcome this, one of them is through movie. Movie has a potential to be a drive for equality, and have had a massive growth with the presence of movie streaming services such as Netflix, Disney+, and others. The purpose of this research is to investigate the identity representation of a child raised by deaf parents as shown by the movie "CODA" as the winner of the 2022 Oscars for Best Pictures category. The methodology used in this research is semiotics with Roland Barthes approach that uses two stages of signification to analyze media text in order to yield results referring to socio-cultural and personal association. The result of this research indicates meaning of identity of a CODA, be it negative or positive; the identity development of a CODA in teen stage; different self-identity of a CODA; and their conflict of identity. In the end, the main meaning found in this research is how a CODA choose their identity, as a deaf person, hearing person, or both.
