Internet addiction dan loneliness sering terjadi di kalangan mahasiswa. Kedua hal tersebut dimediasi oleh coping strategy. Ketika mahasiswa yang internet addiction menggunakan adaptive coping strategy, maka tidak akan terkena resiko terhadap loneliness. Sebaliknya, jika mahasiswa menggunakan maladaptive coping strategy, maka akan cenderung merasakan kondisi loneliness. Studi ini bertujuan untuk meneliti 158 mahasiswa di Indonesia mengenai peran coping strategy sebagai mediator antara hubungan internet addiction dan loneliness. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan metode kuantitatif dengan alat ukur UCLA Loneliness Scale, Brief COPE, dan Internet Addiction Test (IAT). Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan adanya peran mediasi coping strategy khususnya pada maladaptive coping strategy. Sementara adaptive coping strategy tidak memediasi hubungan antara internet addiction dan loneliness. Terdapat juga korelasi negatif antara adaptive coping strategy dan loneliness yang menunjukkan bahwa jika mahasiswa menggunakan adaptive coping strategy, maka loneliness akan berkurang ataupun tidak ada sama sekali./Internet addiction and loneliness often occur among college students. Both of these are mediated by coping strategies. When students use adaptive coping strategies, they will not be exposed to the risk of loneliness. Conversely, if students use maladaptive coping strategies, they will tend to feel loneliness. This study aims to examine 158 students in Indonesia regarding the role of coping strategies as a mediator between the relationship between internet addiction and loneliness. This research was conducted using a quantitative method using the UCLA Loneliness Scale, Brief COPE, and the Internet Addiction Test (IAT). The results of this study indicate that there is a mediating role for coping strategies, especially in maladaptive coping strategies. Meanwhile, adaptive coping strategy does not mediate the relationship between internet addiction and loneliness. There is also a negative correlation between adaptive coping strategy and loneliness which shows that if students use an adaptive coping strategy, then loneliness will decrease or not exist at all.
