Milk Tea Alliance was a youth movement of three countries that share a common struggle, Thailand, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, on democracy, in attempt to fight for authoritarianism. As the tension grows with the People’s Republic of China (PRC), these three countries fought for their democratic rights together, as they have shown their disagreement towards their government multiple times in the past, as seen through their street demonstrations. Milk Tea Alliance utilized the online platform to gain support and share news and information regarding the updates of their fight for democracy. This thesis uses qualitative research approach with case study research method to answer how Milk Tea Alliance utilized online platforms in their fight for democracy and the impacts of online platform on the democracy movement. From the research and analysis, it is concluded that this alliance grew bigger than the estimation, utilizing online platforms as a new method for demonstration. The result of this thesis includes proving how a hashtag in social media can gather people, create an online community for people with common goal, and provides comfort and support for any individuals or groups struggling the same, from any part of the world. Milk Tea Alliance as a transnational, democratic, and online movement offers more than just a movement, it offers comfort and support for communities with a common struggle. / Milk Tea Alliance adalah pergerakan kaum muda dari tiga negara, Thailand, Hong Kong, dan Taiwan yang berbagi perjuangan yang sama dalam demokrasi, dalam upaya untuk melawan otoritarianisme. Saat ketegangan dengan Republik Rakyat Cina (RRC) bertumbuh, tiga negara tersebut bersama berjuang untuk hak demokrasi mereka, seperti yang telah mereka tunjukkan dari ketidaksetujuan terhadap pemerintah mereka berulang kali di masa lalu, seperti terlihat dari demonstrasi jalanan mereka. Milk Tea Alliance memanfaatkan platform online untuk memperoleh dukungan dan membagikan berita dan informasi mengenai kelanjutan perjuangan untuk demokrasi mereka. Skripsi ini menggunakan pendekatan ilmiah kualitatif dengan metode penelitian kasus studi untuk menjawab bagaimana Milk Tea Alliance memanfaatkan platform online dalam perjuangan untuk demokrasi dan dampak platform online di pergerakan demokrasi. Dari penelitian dan analisa, dapat disimpulkan bahwa persekutuan ini tumbuh lebih besar daripada estimasi, dengan memanfaatkan platform online sebagai metode baru untuk demonstrasi. Hasil dari skripsi ini termasuk bukti bagaimana sebuah tanda pagar di media social dapat mengumpulkan orang-orang, membuat komunitas online untuk orang-orang dengan tujuan yang sama, dan menyediakan kesenangan dan dukungan untuk komunitas dengan perjuangan yang sama.
