Abstract

The goal of accelerated class is not only to shorten the amount of time but also for students to maximize their potential for lives to serve God. The main purposes of this research were to identify the major issues of accelerated class, such as wrong direction of students’ enthusiasm and Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS), analyze benefits and challenges of accelerated class from students’ perspective; and provide appropriate teaching and learning method for the accelerated class. Every man carries the responsibility as His moral agent, as the evidence of the existence of God. For students to carry out this mission is to take more ownership of their learning and should be supported to gradually become more active roles as learners in the classroom. Based on the data collected, there are seven benefits and eleven challenges of accelerated class from the students’ perspective. It can be deduced from the review that the appropriate teaching and learning method for the accelerated class is the Flipped Classroom approach. Finally, recommendations are given for future researchers engaged, it is suggested that they have an approach that evaluates the specific growth of spiritual and/or acquisition of skills or learning outcomes applied in accelerated class.
