Abstract
Keterampilan menulis permulaan merupakan salah satu aspek dari keterampilan berbahasa yang dibutuhkan siswa kelas I. Penilaian yang digunakan adalah kerapian dan kejelasan dari tulisan siswa. Namun, pada kenyataannya masih banyak siswa yang belum mampu untuk menulis dengan rapi dan jelas. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, peneliti menggunakan media pembelajaran gambar. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah: (a) untuk mengetahui peningkatan keterampilan menulis permulaan dengan menggunakan media pembelajaran gambar dan (b) untuk mengetahui langkah-langkah penggunaan media pembelajaran gambar yang dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis permulaan. Metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Metode Penelitian Kelas (PTK) model Robert P. Pelton. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan sebanyak dua kali penerapan yang dilakukan pada kelas I Sekolah Kristen Pangkal Pinang dari tanggal 25 September 2018 hingga 2 Oktober 2018. Peneliti menggunakan Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran (RPP), rubrik penilaian mentor, rubrik penilaian siswa, feedback mentor, dan jurnal refleksi sebagai instrumen. Berdasarkan hasil data yang diperoleh, media pembelajaran gambar mampu meningkatkan keterampilan menulis permulaaan siswa. Hal ini terbukti dari persentase kelulusan siswa pada pelaksanaan tindakan pertama sebesar 56% sedangkan pada pelaksanaan tindakan kedua sebesar 84%. Dari kedua pelaksanaan tindakan tersebut terjadi peningkatan sebesar 28%. Langkah dalam media pembelajaran gambar yang meningkatkan keterampilan menulis permulaan siswa adalah menggunakan gambar sesuai dengan pertumbuhan siswa, memperlihatkan gambar kepada siswa di depan kelas, menerangkan pelajaran dengan menggunakan gambar, mengarahkan perhatian siswa pada sebuah gambar, dan memberikan tugas kepada siswa./ Basic writing skill is one of the aspects of language skills that elementary students need in grade 1. The evaluations are focused on the neatness and the clarity of student’s writing. However, in fact, there are a lot of students cannot write with neat and clear. To overcome this problem, the researcher used pictures as the learning media. The aims of this research are: (a) to know basic writing skills improvement through pictures and (b) to know the steps in using pictures which can improve basic writing skills. The researcher used Class Action Research (CAR) from Robert P. Pelton. It was conducted in two cycles which applied in grade 1 Pangkal Pinang Christian School on September 25th, 2018 until October 2nd, 2018. The researcher used lesson plans, mentor’s evaluations, rubrics for student’s assessments, mentor’s feedbacks, and journal reflections as the instruments. As the result, pictures could improve students’ basic writing skills. It is proven by the average score from the test result which in the first cycle the percentage is 56% while in the second cycle is 84%. From both cycles there was an improvement in the amount of 28%. The steps that worked when applying pictures media which improve students’ basic writing skills are using pictures based on students’ growth and development, showing pictures to the student in front of the class, explain the lesson using pictures, direct students’ attention to the pictures, and giving assignments to the students.
