Abstract

Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan oleh peneliti pada siswa Taman Kanak-Kanak A di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Bangka, peneliti menemukan bahwa masih kurangnya keaktifan belajar siswa. Hal ini terlihat saat peneliti mengajar, peneliti menemukan bahwa siswa tidak memperhatikan materi yang guru sampaikan sehingga ketika diberikan pertanyaan siswa tidak dapat memberikan jawaban yang sesuai dengan pertanyaan. Siswa juga sering melakukan hal-hal yang tidak berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran seperti mengobrol dengan temannya, melamun, serta ada juga yang diam disepanjang pembelajaran. Hanya siswa tertentu saja yang selalu memberikan respons terkait pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui media visual papan flanel dapat meningkatkan keaktifam belajar siswa TK A, serta mengetahui langkah-langkah penggunaan media visual papan flanel dapat meningkatkan keaktifan belajar siswa TK A. Metode penelitian yang digunakan oleh peneliti adalah metode Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) model Pelton. Subjek penelitian melibatkan 24 siswa. Sumber data yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah RPP, umpan balik mentor, lembar observasi checklist, dan jurnal refleksi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, keaktifan belajar siswa meningkat pada setiap indikator. Hasil untuk Indikator I.a sebesar 61,53%, indikator I.b sebesar 80,76%, indikator II sebesar 73,07%, dan untuk indikator III sebesar 38,64%. Peningkatan keaktifan belajar ini terjadi dengan diterapkannya empat langkah�langkah penggunaan media visual berbentuk papan flanel. / Based on observation that has been done by the researcher towards Kindergarten A Students at one of Christian school in Bangka, the researcher found that there was an issue regarding the lack of students’ engagement in learning process. It can be seen when the researcher teaches, the students did not really pay attention to lessons delivered by the researcher and it causes the students are not able to answer the questions properly according to the questions. Besides that, the students are frequently doing something that not related with the learning process, such as chatting with a friend, day-dreaming, and also there are few students that do nothing during the learning process. There are only certain students that always give response related to the learning process. Therefore, the purposes of this research are to know whether the usage of flannel board as the visual media can improve kindergarden students’ engagement and to know whether the steps of the usage of flannel board as visual media can improve kindergarden students’ engagement. Research methodology that used by the researcher is Classroom Action Research (CAR), specifically Pelton model. There are 24 students thant involved as the subjects of the research. The data sources that used in this research are lesson plans, mentor feedback, checklist observation sheet, and reflective journal. Based on research result, students’ engagement in learning is improving in each indicators. The result of I.a indicator is improving 61,53%, I.b indicator is improving 80,76%, II indicator is improving 73,07% and for III indicator is improving 38,64%. This improvement occurs by the implementation of four steps of using visual media in form of flannel board.
