Abstract

Penelitian ini didasarkan atas pengamatan dan hasil tes siswa kelas XI MIPA di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Ambon yang ditemukan masih belum memiliki kemampuan berpikir kritis. Kemampuan berpikir kritis ini seharusnya sudah dimiliki oleh siswa sekolah menengah. Oleh karena itu untuk meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa, peneliti menggunakan Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah (PBM) sebagai solusi untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI MIPA dengan menggunakan Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas Pelton dengan lima tahapan, yaitu mengidentifikasi masalah, mengumpulkan data, merencanakan tindakan, melaksanakan tindakan, dan hasil penilaian. Tempat penelitian ini adalah salah satu sekolah Kristen di Ambon, pada September-Oktober 2018. Subjek penelitian ini adalah 29 orang siswa kelas XI MIPA. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan dua kali penerapan tindakan yang menggunakan instrumen penelitian yaitu, lembar umpan balik mentor/teman sejawat, jurnal refleksi, angket, dan tes tertulis. Berdasarkan penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa: (1) Pembelajaran Berbasis Masalah dapat meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa kelas XI MIPA di salah satu sekolah Kristen di Ambon pada mata pelajaran Biologi dari penerapan tindakan pertama sebesar 72% menjadi 100% pada penerapan tindakan kedua; (2) Langkah penerapan PBM adalah siswa diberikan masalah oleh guru, siswa diberikan waktu di dalam kelompok untuk mengidentifikasi masalah, siswa mengumpulkan informasi untuk memecahkan masalah dari buku dan sumber lain, siswa merumuskan hipotesis dan memberikan rekomendasi pemecahan masalah, siswa menyampaikan hasil diskusi kepada kelompok lain dan siswa menanggapi hasil diskusi kelompok lain./ Kritis This research is based on the result of observations and students test result of grade XI MIPA in one of Christian school in Ambon who were found have not the ability to think criticaly. This critical thinking ability should be owned by middle school students. Therefore, the researcher decided to apply Problem Based Learning as a solution to improve students critical thinking. The purpose of this research is to improve grade students critical thinking by using Problem Based Learning. This research method used Classroom Action Research by Pelton through five stages, namely issue identification, data collection, action planning, plan activation, and outcome assessment. The place of this research is one of Christian school in Ambon, in September-October 2018. The subject consisted of 29 grade XI MIPA students. In this research, the application of two actions using research instruments were mentor and peer feedback sheet, reflection journals, questionnaires, and written tests. Based on this research it can be concluded that: (1) Problem Based Learning can improve critical thinking skills of grade XI MIPA students in one of Christian school in Ambon on Biology subject from the first application the result is 72% and increase to 100% on second application; (2) The steps to implement Problem Based Leaning are students are given a problems by the teacher, students are given time in groups to identify problems, students gather information to solve problems from books and other sources, students make a hypotheses and provide recommendations for solving the problem, students present the results of their group discussions to the others group and students respond to the results of other group discussions.
