Abstract
Karakter disiplin menjadi salah satu kunci sukses dalam belajar. Memiliki disiplin yang baik dapat memberikan dampak yang baik, begitupula sebaliknya di setiap aspek kehidupan termasuk dalam dunia pendidikan. Namun hal tersebut belum dimiliki siswa kelas VIII di Sekolah Lentera Harapan Way Pengubuan. Berdasarkan pengamatan yang dilakukan peneliti terlihat bahwa siswa kelas VIII belum memiliki sikap disiplin dalam belajar dan tidak sesuai dengan rules and procedure yang ada di kelas sehingga pembelajaran berlangsung tidak kondusif. Siswa terlihat lebih cenderung mengobrol, tidak menggunakan hand signal, dan tidak mengumpulkan tugas tepat waktu. Oleh karena itu dilakukan sebuah penelitian dengan menerapkan reward and consequence untuk meningkatkan disiplin belajar dalam diri siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas menurut Pelton. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan mulai 20 Agustus 2018 hingga 31 Oktober 2018. Adapun data yang digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat keberhasilan penelitian ini adalah; RPP, Lembar Umpan Balik mentor, Jurnal Refleksi mengajar, dan lembar angket siswa. Dari penelitian ini terlihat bahwa dengan menerapkan reward and consequence selama proses pembelajaran dapat memacu siswa untuk meningkatkan perilaku disiplin belajar dengan menaati setiap prosedur yang ada. reward and consequence ini juga bukan hanya memacu semangat siswa tetapi melatih siswa untuk memiliki kebiasaan disiplin belajar yang baik./ Discipline character becomes one of the keys of success in learning. Discipline gives a good impact towards all aspects of human’s life including in education. However, this is not yet owned by Grade VIII students at the Lentera Harapan Way Pengubuan School. Based on observation done by the researcher, it was proven that students grade VIII did not yet have discipline in learning and did not comply with the rules and procedures in the class, therefore the learning was not conducive. Students seemed tend to chat with others, did not use hand signal and did not collect assignment on time. Therefore a research was done using the implementation of reward and consequences to improve students’ discipline. This research used Classroom Action Research by Pelton and it was done from August 20 - October 31, 2018. The data used to measure the success of this research were lesson plan, mentor feedback, journal reflection, and students’ questionnaire. Based on the result of this research, could be seen that the implementation of reward and consequences could push students ahead to improve students’ discipline in learning through obeying every procedure in class. The reward ancd consequences was not only stimulate students’ enthusiasm but trained them to have a good learning discipline habits.
