Abstract
Pemahaman konsep adalah kemampuan untuk tidak hanya mengingat sebuah
konsep, namun juga makna ulang konsep tersebut, menggolongkan dan
menerapkan konsep tersebut. Pemahaman konsep juga merupakan masalah utama
yang ditemukan dalam kelas X Mia. Karakteristik siswa di kelas X Mia adalah
menyukai diskusi dalam kelompok kecil dan merasa terbantu dengan adanya
kelompok tersebut. Berdasarkan karakteristik ini, maka model pembelajaran
kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share dipilih sebagai upaya untuk meningkatkan
pemahaman konsep siswa. Hal ini karena dalam tahapannya, Think Pair Share
siswa melakukan diskusi secara berpasangan dan juga tahapan Think Pair Share
menuntut siswa untuk berpikir mandiri.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah penggunaan model
pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share dapat meningkatkan pemahaman
konsep siswa kelas X Mia di SLH Jatiagung dan bagaimana penggunaan model
pembelajaran kooperatif tipe Think Pair Share dapat meningkatkan pemahaman
konsep siswa kelas X Mia di SLH Jatiagung. Model penelitian yang digunakan
berjenis penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) menurut Pelton. Tahapan PTK menurut
Pelton terdiri dari identifikasi masalah, pengumpulan data, perencanaan tindakan,
aktivasi rencana, dan penilaian hasil.
Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan terhadap
pemahaman konsep siswa. Peningkatan tersebut terjadi pada setiap indikator dan
juga pada persentase kelulusan tes siswa. Untuk indikator 1, walaupun persentase
keberhasilan indikator tidak mengalami peningkatan, namun jika ditinjau dari
perolehan skor siswa terdapat 5 siswa yang mengalami peningkatan. Untuk
indikator 2 terjadi peningkatan persentase keberhasilan indikator sebesar 31,58%
dan indikator 3 terjadi peningkatan persentase keberhasilan indikator sebesar
15,79%. Persentase kelulusan tes juga mengalami peningkatan sebesar
15,79%.Oleh karena itu, dapat disimpulkan bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif
tipe Think Pair Share dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa./Concept mastery is an ability to understand and applied a concept that had
learned before. It makes a concept mastery is very important to students. A
conceptual understanding is also a main problem in class X Mia during teaching
and learning process. Students' characteristics in X Mia class are they love to
discussed in small group and feel helpful by it. Based on this characteristics, Think�Pair-Share cooperative learning model is selected as an effort to increase the
students’ conceptual understanding. Because, in this model's phase, students will
do a discussion in pair. And also, this model will force the students to think
independently.
The purpose of this research is to know whether this model could increase the
students' conceptual understanding in class X Mia SLH Jatiagung. And how the use
of this model could increase the students' concept comprehension in class X Mia
SLH Jatiagung. The research model that used by the writer is PTK model based on
Pelton's model. The phase of PTK itself according to Pelton started by the problem
identification, data collection, act of plan, plan activation, and assessment result.
The result of this research is there's an improvement to students' conceptual
understanding. The improvements happened are to every indicator and also in
percentage of students’ pass-rate. For indicator 1, altough there is no sign of
improvement in percentage, but if we look from the students’ score, then we could
see that there are 5 students that improved. For indicator 2, improvement increase
by 31,58% and indicator 3 increase by 15,79%. The percentage of students’ pass
rate also increase by 15,79%. So the conclusion is, the Think Pair Share cooperative
learning model can increase the students’ conceptual understanding.
