Abstract
Adaptasi sejarah kerajaan-kerajaan masa lampau Indonesia, terutama kerajaan bercorak Hindu dan Buddha banyak mengikuti jalur fantasy dengan fokus kepada unsur mitologi yang disambungkan dengan karakter-karakter yang juga memiliki unsur fantasy tersebut. Dengan banyaknya peristiwa sejarah Indonesia, adaptasi yang mengikuti sebuah peristiwa dapat dikatakan minim. Salah satu peristiwa
tersebut adalah Perang Paregreg yang terjadi pada tahun 1404 hingga 1406 yang merupakan faktor besar kepada keruntuhan Kerajaan Majapahit. Perang saudara ini merupakan hasil krisis suksesi antara kedua pihak di Majapahit dan membuka
kesempatan untuk budaya-budaya lain untuk memasuki Indonesia, mengakhiri masa Hindu-Buddha di Indonesia.
Permasalahan ini menjadi latar belakang perancangan visual concept art game Proyek Nirvana, yang menjadi adaptasi peristiwa tersebut. Adaptasi peristiwa ini didukung dengan perubahan geografi, geopolitik, teknologi dan budaya Indonesia dengan observasi dan penelitian kepada budaya-budaya lain yang menyerupai budaya Indonesia. Proses adaptasi ini didukung dengan penelitian melalui studi pustaka dan observasi.
Hasil perancangan yang dihasilkan merupakan konsep dunia, properti, lingkungan, karakter dengan illustrasi pendukung seperti logo dan title yang dapat menjadi dasar
untuk adaptasi game. / Many historical adaptations of Indonesia’s past kingdoms, specifically Hindu and
Buddhist styled kingdoms tend to use fantasy as its backdrop, with focus on the mythological aspect that is weaved into the characters that also has some fantastical elements on their own. With the numerous Indonesian historical events, adaptations that follow these events are rare. One of those events is Paregreg War that occurred during 1404-1406 and was one of the factors on the fall of the Majapahit Empire. This civil war was the result of a succession crisis between the two leaders of the Empire and opened Indonesia for other cultures, effectively ending the Hindu-Buddhist reign.
This event serves as a background to a concept art visualization of the video game Project Nirvana, that serves as an adaptation of the event itself. This adaptation is also accompanied with changes to the geography, geopolitical climate, technology,
and culture of Indonesia with observations and research on cultures that closely mirrored Indonesia itself.
This adaptation was supported by research through literature review and observations. The result of this design is the concept for the world, properties, environment, and characters with supporting illustrations such as logo and title that
serves as a base for the game adaptation.
