Abstract
Berdasarkan pengamatan dari peneliti selama mengajar di kelas XI IPA,
hasil belajar kognitif siswa terhadap materi yang diajarkan masih rendah. Hal ini
terlihat dari nilai hasil belajar siswa saat diberikan ulangan harian atau kuis. Oleh
karena itu, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui apakah metode STAD dapat
meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa dalam pelajaran Biologi di kelas XI IPA
dan untuk mengetahui cara penerapan metode STAD dalam meningkatkan hasil
belajar siswa.
Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode penelitian tindakan
kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Mc. Taggart yang berlangsung selama dua siklus.
Penelitian dilakukan di sebuah sekolah Swasta Kristen di Ambon dengan jumlah
siswa sebanyak 19 orang. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan
instrumen berupa: soal tes, lembar wawancara mentor dan siswa, lembar observasi
mentor, lembar angket siswa dan jurnal refleksi peneliti. Data yang diperoleh
kemudian diolah dengan cara analisis deskriptif kualitatif.
Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa metode STAD dapat
meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif siswa kelas XI IPA pada pelajaran Biologi di
sekolah XYZ Ambon dengan melakukan langkah-langkah penerapan yaitu:
memotivasi siswa, menyampaikan tujuan pembelajaran, menyajikan materi,
mengorganisasikan siswa ke dalam kelompok belajar, siswa melakukan diskusi,
membimbing siswa dalam kelompok, memberikan tes, dan memberikan
penghargaan kepada kelompok terbaik. / Based on the observation of researcher in class XI IPA, the cognitive
learning outcomes of students on the material being taught was still low. The
evidence is the students’daily test or quizzes. Therefore, this study aims to
determine whether the STAD method can improve the cognitive outcomes of
Biology students of grade XI IPA and to find ways of applying STAD method in
improving students’ learning outcomes.
The method used is the method of classroom action research (CAR)
Kemmis and Mc. Taggart models that lasted for two cycles. The study was
conducted in a Christian private school in Ambon with 19 students in a class. This
research was conducted by using instruments such as: test questions, mentor and
student interview, mentor observation sheet, student questionnaire and
researcher’s journal reflection. The data was obtained and processed by means of
descriptive and qualitatives analysis.
The result showed that the method STAD can improve cognitive outcomes
of students grade XI IPA in Biolomotivating the students, delivering the learning
objectives, presenting the material, organizing the students into learning groups,
performing students’ discussion, guiding student in the group, giving the test, and
giving awards to the best group.
