Abstract
Berdasarkan observasi yang dilakukan, didapati bahwa kebanyakan siswa
tidak dapat memahami konsep dalam pelajaran Biologi, terkhususnya dalam topik
system pencernaan. Penyebab dari kurangnya pemahaman konsep siswa adalah
karena metode ceramah yang diterapkan dalam kelas adalah metode ceramah
konvensional. Oleh sebab itu peneliti memutuskan untuk menggunakan metode
ceramah berbantuan media visual dalam kelas ini. Diharapkan melalui penerapan
metode dapat diketahui peningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa melalui motede
ceramah berbantuan media visual dan mengetahui langkah-langkah dalam
menggunakan metode ceramah berbantuan media visual dalam peningkatan
pemahaman konsep siswa.
Metode dalam penelitian ini ialah penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK), model
spiral Kemmis dan McTaggart. Siklus dilakukan sebanyak dua kali pada tanggal
21 Oktober 2015 dan 27 Oktober 2015 dengan subjek siswa kelas VIII SMP QT
berjumlah 25 orang. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah
lembar observasi, lembar angket siswa, wawancara mentor & siswa, tes tertulis
dan jurnal refleksi peneliti.
Dari penelitian yang dilakukan, dapat disimpulkan bahwa metode
ceramah berbantuan media visual dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa.
Penerapan metode ceramah berbantuan media visual dapat meningkatkan
pemahaman konsep siswa kelas VIII dalam topik sistem pencernaan manusia
dengan cara: perkenalan dan review; presentasi dengan media visual yang
menarik, dapat menjelaskan konsep, berbahan sederhana dan berukuran sesuai;
latihan terbimbing; kesimpulan dan latihan mandiri. / Based on the researchers‟ observation, found that almost all of the students
couldn‟t understand the concept in biology, especially in the topic of human
digestive system. This problem was caused because direct teaching that used in
the class is the conventional direct teaching. Because of that, researcher decided to
use direct teaching with visual media in class. Hopefully, through the use of direct
teaching with visual media known that students‟ conceptual understanding
improves by direct teaching with visual media and known the steps in use direct
teaching with visual media improving students‟ conceptual understanding.
The method in this research was classroom action research (CAR) with
Kemmis and McTaggarts‟ model. This research was by two cycle on October, 21st
2015 and October, 27th 2015 with 25 grade eight student in QT school as subject.
The instruments in this research were observation paper, students‟ questioners,
teacher‟s and student‟s interview paper, student‟s test paper and researcher‟s
journal reflection.
The result show that direct teaching with visual media could improve
students‟ conceptual understanding. The use of direct teaching with visual media
could improve grade eight students‟ conceptual understanding in topic of human
digestive system by: introduction and review; presentation with an interesting, can
explain the concept, simple and appropriate size visual media; guided practice ;
conclusions and independent practice.
