Abstract
Pengembangnan hasil belajar kognitif sangat penting khususnya di
Indonesia. Dalam rangka memenuhi kebutuhan siswa sebagai makhluk sosial,
guru perlu memfasilitasi siswa dengan metode pembelajaran yang memungkinkan
terjadinya interaksi sosial. Oleh sebab itu, metode pembelajaran kooperatif
Numbered Heads Together dapat digunakan sebagai alat untuk membuat interaksi
sosial dapat terjadi bersamaan dengan hasil belajar kognitif.
Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan pengaruh metode
pembelajaran kooperatif Numbered Heads Together (NHT) pada hasil belajar
siswa di pelajaran Biologi. Desain grup kontrol non-ekivalen digunakan sebagai
metode penelitian. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 49 siswa yang dibagi ke dalam
kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Pre-test dan Post-test digunakan sebagai
instrumen penelitian. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan Test U Mann-Whitney
dengan taraf signifikansi 5% (0.09). Peneliti menemukan bahwa nilai p 0.161 >
0.05. Oleh sebab itu, tidak ada peningkatan yang signifikan pada hasil belajar
kognitif siswa melalui penerapan metode pembelajaran kooperatif Numbered
Heads Together (NHT) pada pelajaran Biologi.
Peneliti menemukan bahwa hasil ini disebabkan oleh rendahnya
kemampuan kognitif beberapa siswa pada kelas eksperimen yang tetap tidak bisa
mencapai nilai lebih tinggi pada tes setelah metode NHT diterapkan.
Berdasarkan penelitian ini, peneliti menyimpulkan tidak ada peningkatan yang
signifikan pada hasil belajar kognitif siswa melalui penerapan metode
pembelajaran kooperatif Numbered Heads Together (NHT) pada pelajaran
Biologi. Tetapi, metode pembelajaran kooperatif Numbered Heads Together
(NHT) memiliki dampak pada siswa dalam aspek ketergantungan positif, interaksi
promotif, tanggung jawab individu dan kelompok, kemampuan komunikasi dan
pemrosesan kelompok. / Developing cognitive achievement is really important especially in
Indonesia. Students as social beings need to be provided with learning method
that will facilitate the social interactions. Therefore, cooperative learning method
Numbered Heads Together can be used as a tool to make the social interactions
happen along with the cognitive achievement.
The purpose of this experiment was to determine the effect of cooperative
learning method numbered heads together (NHT) on students’ cognitive
achievement in biology. Nonequivalent control group design was used as the
research method. The research subjects were 49 students who were divided into
the experiment and control group. The pre-test and post-test were used as the
instruments. The data was analyzed using Mann-Whitney u test on significance
level of 5% (0.05). The researcher found that the p value is 0.161 > 0.05.
Therefore, there was no significant increase on students’ cognitive achievement
through the implementation of cooperative learning method of NHT in Biology.
The researcher found that this result was caused by the low cognitive
ability of some students in the experimental group who still could not achieve
higher score on test after the NHT cooperative learning method applied.
Based on this study, the researcher concluded that there was no
significant increase on students’ cognitive achievement through the
implementation of cooperative learning method of NHT in Biology. But,
cooperative learning method numbered heads together (NHT) had an impact on
students in the aspect of positive interdependence, promotive interaction,
individual and group responsibility, communication skill, and group processing.
